In 1990/1991 a two-stages architectural competition organized
by the IBA Emscher Park and the land of NRW provided fundamental
ideas for the further development of Mont-Cenis.
The main targets of the structural programme for the ecological
and economical reconstruction of the Ruhr region, sponsored by
the land of North-Rhine Westphalia, were particularly taken into account.
The redevelopment of wast from the old coal mine also played an important part.
The financing of the overall project required app. 57,21 Mio. €. The
following figures show a survey of the costs and how their are distributed
among the different part of the project (as at October 2002).
